The Tesla Turbine
Tesla's turbine idea demonstrated his novel method to utilizing fluid dynamics for energy conversion. The Tesla turbine, which was supposed to replace traditional rotary engines, efficiently generated rotating motion by utilizing boundary layer adhesion and friction. While the turbine was not widely used at the time, its simplicity, compactness, and possibility for diverse fuel sources have stimulated modern interest in energy-efficient propulsion systems and distributed power generation. Tesla's turbine proposal exemplifies his ability to rethink traditional technical assumptions.
